Laurie Cottrell, Manager (On maternity leave)

I started working at the Honeytree Day Nursery and Preschool in November 2006, having worked as a year one teacher for a year.

My training includes a BA (Hons) in Primary Education with Qualified Teacher Status, I completed my Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) year and have gained my Early Years Professional Status.

My role within the nursery includes ensuring good practice is key to nursery life, supporting and mentoring staff to ensure that the children's learning is the best it can be and overseeing the day-to-day running of the nursery. I also liaise with the other Honeytree Day Nurseries, Bristol City Council, local Schools, Nurseries and Children Centres, through the good relationships and links we have made we are able to share good practice, train staff and deliver family support for our families. I am passionate about giving children the best start in life, which is why I work hard to keep myself and the nursery staff up to date with current best practice. I am keen to make the nursery the best it can be along with the staff team and to ensure the overarching principles from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) are shaping practice.

Anna Fayers, Manager (Maternity cover)

I started working at the Honeytree in April 2015 after completing my Early Years Teacher Training.

I am a qualified teacher with 18 Years of experience of working in education in a range of schools and education provisions.

I studied at Canterbury Christ University gaining a BA Hons in Child and Youth studies and went on to gain a Post Graduate Certification in Autism (children).

After completing my degree I worked as a volunteer in Uganda in a centre for understanding autism, supporting staff in developing their training program. I spent 2 years in Uganda working with children from 3-16. Since returning from Uganda I have had a little boy who has sparked a passion in Early Years education. I am committed to improving educational provision for children moving into school age, supporting their developmental skills which will support them in their academic years.

Kate Smart, Deputy Manager (Maternity cover)

I have experience of working with all ages and worked in all rooms across the nursery.

I have progressed from Nursery Nurse to room manager. I have completed my foundation degree in Early Years.

I currently work 4 days a week and in my spare time I like to go shopping, to the cinema and going on day trips. I love travelling and holidays abroad with my family and friends. My favorite place is Marmaris in Turkey. I have very close family unit and love to spend time with them. I enjoy spending time with my friends.

Sonia Vidal Forte, Graduate Leader (3-5's)

I started at the Honeytree in March 2017.

I am working in the preschool as graduate leader, Children have a strong desire to learn, my job is to empower this desire and extend children's thinking.


My qualifications and training include:

Tessa Davies, Graduate Leader (0-3)

Since completing my degree I have been working in both schools and nurseries.

I spent 2 years in New Zealand where I worked in a Montessori Nursery. Before coming to The Honeytree I worked as a nanny.

I love to travel and have had the fortune of visiting many countries whilst travelling. In my spare time I like to watch and try my hand at surfing also I am currently learning to play the drums.

Hiba Yusuuf, Joint Room Manager

I have worked at the nursery for over a year. I have worked in pre-school room as an apprentice and when I qualified became room manager in the 2-3’s room, Little Bees.

I am currently studying Health and Social Sciences at Cardiff University.

I enjoy reading books and watching Anime as well as drawing Manga characters.

My qualifications and training include:

Melanie Michael, Early Years Practitioner - 2-3’s – Little Bees

I have been working for Honeytree since 1997.

I have experience of working with all ages, but currently I am a key person in Little Bees (2-4’s).

I enjoy socialising with my family and friends, shopping and visiting new places.

My qualifications and training include:

  • NVQ Level 3
  • Caring for Children 0-7 (City & Guilds)


Rhianne Rogers, Early Years Practitioner – 2-3’s – Sunshine Room

I completed my Level 3 Diploma at SGS College in June 2015 and joined Honeytree in October 2015.

I began working in the 2-3’s room and from August 2016 moved into 0-2’s which is a role I am enjoying.

In my spare time I enjoy walking my dog, shopping and spending time with my niece and nephew.

My qualifications and training include:

  • Level 3 CACHE Diploma in Childcare (0 – 16)
  • Pediatric First Aid


Priya Jordan-Shah, Early Years Practitioner

I joined the Honeytree Day Nursery in September 2015 having just completed my BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies at UWE.

During my degree I completed placements in a variety of settings including primary schools and pre schools.

I wrote my dissertation on the use of stories and how they supported children's mathematical development and I am really keen to explore this further at Honeytree.

My primary interest outside of work is music. I play the guitar and when I can, I like to bring it in to work as the children really enjoy it and it can help to facilitate their learning.

Henar Morell-Pedriera, Joint Room Manager (2-3's)

I started working at the Honeytree in April 2016.

I returned to Spain in August and when I came back to England I reapplied for the job at Honeytree and returned in November 2016. I am currently a keyperson in the 0-2s room. My role is to assist with the daily routine of the room, activities, making observations. To foster the education and care of the children in the room within a key person structure promoting good practice and being a role model for other staff and children, respecting each child as an individual, taking in its appropriate needs and to assist with the safeguarding and welfare of the children at all times.

Lola Carpio-Perez, Early Years Practitioner

I have worked at the Honeytree since November 2016

I am a key person in the 0-2s room. I have experience of working with a variety of different age groups, both in Spain and in England. I was manager of an afterschool club before I started working with Honeytree.

Amy Sansom, Room Manager (0-2's)

I started at Honeytree in 2011 where I was training towards my NVQ3.

Since completing my level 3 I became a keyperson in the pre-school room where I am still currently working. I left to have my daughter in 2015 and returned back to work in bringing Lilly with me. In my spare time I like to enjoy family time with my partner and children, taking them on lots of day trips and adventures.

Melisa Williams, Early Years Practitioner

I started working at the Honeytree in 2007.

I have experience of working with all age groups in the nursery. I have 3 children, all of whom have attended the Honeytree. I am currently a keyperson in the 3-5’s room. I enjoy messy play, dancing and singing with the children and love to see a smile on their faces.

My qualifications and training include:

  • NVQ Level 3

Katy Gill, Early Years Practitioner

I’ve completed a 5 day work experience in a pre-school and joined Honeytree in February 2016.

In my spare time I teach and train in Kickboxing. Also, I like exploring the world and spending time with family and friends.

Jade Burge, Apprentice (0-2’s)

I have gone to many nurseries for work experience and worked with all ages.

In my free time I enjoy going to concert with my friends. I love textiles and drawing and occasionally reading books when I have spare time.

Belle Mogg, Apprentice

I have worked at the Honeytree since November 2016.

I am currently an apprentice in the busy bees room 3-5’s where I am studying my NVQ3. I started my NVQ with Honeytree once leaving school. Childcare has always been my interest.

Ann George, Housekeeper

I started at the Honeytree in February 2017.

My job is to help with the cooking and cleanliness of the nursery. I have been made to feel very welcome by the staff and love seeing the children's faces - especially when they are enjoying my lovely food. My hobbies are socialising with friends, going to the theatre and i like to go to London for a spot of shopping.
